No progress possible under US slavery: Imran

LAHORE

PAKISTAN Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said the country cannot make progress under the leadership which is busy in worshipping the US.

He stated this while addressing a seminar held in connection with the 73rd death anniversary of Allama Iqbal here on Thursday.

Imran said that as long as the present leadership continued its weak and puppet role before the US, the county could not be steered out of the prevailing crisis.

He said the problems like poverty, inflation and terrorism could not be solved in the presence of a leadership which was only watching the US or its own interests.

Imran went on to say that the reserves of copper and silver in Balcohistan could bring a benefit of 260 billion dollars for Pakistan but for that purpose, a credible leadership was required.

He said only by implementing the vision of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal, the nation could bring back its lost glory.

Humayon Akhtar Khan, Secretary General of the PML-Q (likeminded), said that nobody opposed democracy but it could only be effective if its benefits reached the masses.

Expressing regret over the prevailing circumstances, he said it was awful that a US general could easily criticise our army but the rulers seemed helpless before him.

He said by making use of all the available resources, Pakistan s reliance on others could end for good and it would never need any aid.

Sunni Tehreek Punjab President Shahid Ghori said that leadership needed to take bold steps like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who without caring for his life made Pakistan a nuclear power.

All the speakers on the occasion praised Allama Iqbal for his role in waking up the nation which eventually paved the way for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the region. They also voiced for the true implementation of vision of national leaders in order to assume the status of a truly free and independent nation.

Raheeq Ahmed Abbasi, senior journalist Arif Nizami, senior columnist Ataul Haq Qasmi and others were also present.
